Patrick Augustus Mervyn Manning (August 17, 1946 – July 2, 2016) was a Trinidadian and Tobagonian politician who served as the fourth Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago from 1991 to 1995 and again as the sixth Prime Minister from 2001 to 2010. He was also the Political Leader of the People's National Movement (PNM) from 1987 to 2010. A geologist by training, Manning dedicated most of his life to public service, first entering Parliament in 1971. He was the longest-serving member of the House of Representatives. His tenures were marked by efforts to diversify the economy, significant investments in infrastructure, education (notably the GATE program expansion), and social programs, often fueled by the country's energy revenues.
