The University of Fort Hare (UFH) is a public university in Alice, Eastern Cape, South Africa. Established in 1916, it was a key institution in higher education for Black Africans for many decades, and it is the alma mater of many prominent African leaders, including Nelson Mandela, Oliver Tambo, Govan Mbeki, and Mangosuthu Buthelezi.
