The Metropolitan Airports Commission (MAC) is a public corporation established in 1943 by the Minnesota State Legislature. It is responsible for the ownership and operation of a system of nine airports in the Minneapolis-Saint Paul metropolitan area. This system includes Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport (MSP), a major U.S. commercial aviation hub, and six reliever/general aviation airports (St. Paul Downtown, Flying Cloud, Anoka County-Blaine, Crystal, Airlake, and Lake Elmo). The MAC's mission is to promote air transportation, ensure the safety and efficiency of its airport facilities, foster economic growth for the region, and manage its operations in an environmentally responsible manner.
Serves as the primary administrative and operational command center for the entire MAC airport system, housing executive leadership, finance, legal, human resources, planning, engineering, and public affairs.
Direct access to MSP International Airport facilities, modern office spaces designed for collaboration among various departments involved in airport management.
A public service-oriented culture focused on safety, efficiency, customer service, and economic development for the region. Emphasis on collaboration, accountability, and innovation in airport operations and development.
The headquarters is pivotal for the strategic planning, development, and day-to-day management of one of the nation's busiest airport systems, directly impacting regional, national, and international connectivity and commerce.
While the Metropolitan Airports Commission itself is a regional public entity focused on the Twin Cities metropolitan area, its flagship, Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport (MSP), provides extensive global connectivity. MSP serves as a major hub with numerous daily flights to destinations across North America, Europe, and Asia. This connects the region to global markets, supports international business and tourism, and facilitates worldwide cargo transport, effectively giving the MAC an indirect global reach through its operations.
